The Soft Landing
Festival is a mini series of concerts and master classes
celebrating the 200th anniversary of the births of
Robert Schumann (born 8th June 1810) and Frédéric Chopin (born 22nd February
1810). The festival was conceived by
locally based pianist Nicolene van der Walt and is being
promoted and supported by Peterborough Cathedral Music
Association. Each concert will include works by Chopin and/or
Schumann.
VENUE
All events will take
place in St John's Church, Cathedral Square, Peterborough.
PERFORMERS
The four concerts and
two master classes will bring a variety of performers to
Peterborough.
Libor Nováček –
piano,
who has an established international reputation.
Jamie Pringle (cello)
and
the Wu String Quartet who are outstanding young
London-based musicians at the start of very promising careers.
Yvonne Lea
(contralto) and Maureen Brathwaite (soprano) are
experienced singers who are active in the musical life of
Peterborough and its surrounding areas.
Nicolene van der Walt
(piano),
a locally based pianist and composer who is on the piano staff
at Uppingham School
TICKETS
Tickets for these events are available from the normal
PCMA outlet and additionally a Season Ticket for
all 4 concerts (excluding the master classes) will be
available for £35.00 (PCMA Members £30.00).
